New Decor

I love to decorate and should make a career out of it. I decorated my downstairs bathroom recently and want to share with you what I did.

I knew I wanted a texture of gold/bronze sparkly in bathroom to compliment the shower curtains that were already in the bathroom. I texted a few colors, but while I was decorating, I changed the concept and ended up with this.

Tell me if you like.

Thanks.

Self Evaluation

Lately I have been a little down because there are some goals I am wanting to complete that are taking forever for me to complete them. Stuff always seems to pop up to distract me and push the goal further back from the finish line.

So anyways, I was reading Joel Olsteen's book and he stated that it may have been something that someone said to you long time ago or an event may have happened that put a stronghold on you which may be preventing you from moving forward to what God have planned for you. And I started thinking of some things that were said to me in my childhood, in college and even now in my adulthood that did have a negative affect on me and technically I really haven't gotten over it.

Last night I prayed the bondage away and forgave those that have caused me pain and I also asked for forgiveness to those I have caused pain. It is amazing how somethings can truly have an hinderance on your promotion in life and you have no idea why certain things keeps happening to you.

I know this is not a usual topic of mine, but that is the good thing about Chat in the City, no topic is off limits.

Take care dolls!

Back in the Day: 80s Fashion Review

Hip hop entered the music scenes in the 1980s, so did colorful hip hop fashions.

It started out with the Adidas jumpsuits, leather bomb jackets, lace and polka-dots and sneakers. Leg warmers, head bands and lace gloves were also popular among other racial groups.

Jheri Curls was the most popular hairstyle. You could either wear it juicy and curly or you can dry it out a bit and change it up with different style cuts. Will Smith changed the game when he broke out with the high-top fade.

Heavy gold chains draped the necks and wrists. The big gold knuckle rings layed across the four fingers. Today we call this "bling". LOL! The women wore the huge hoop ear-rings introduced by Salt-n-Pepa. Every young black girl wanted to be like them. They rocked the asymetrical hair-cut. They were "fly" as we used to call them.

In the late 80s, the style changed a little. The pants were getting baggier. Finger waves came onto the scene as well as dreadlocks. Red, Green and black were the popular colors. The rap group Kris Kross started wearing their clothes backwards which introduced a new fashion trend.  Even the "preppy" look was making a way.

Those were the good ole' days.

Playful Basics

Not sure how to assemble a chic ensemble? Believe it or not you have pieces in your closet to create a fabulous look. For instance, take a sheer ruffle blouse and pair it with a basic black skirt and opaque tights and then finish off your look with an ankle boot.

You can dress it up with a shoulder bag or a silk scarf.

I hope you enjoy this fashion fashion inspiration for today.

How to Create a Matte Lip Without the Dry Look

Lipstick Tip: Go Matte Without Looking Chapped

Forget that puckered, lined look--here's how to master the matte-lip trend

By Emily Hebert

Matte lips are en vogue for fall and winter, as are matte faces . But pulling off a buffed pucker is tough--especially when blustery winds and dry air threaten your less-than-lustrous finish. "Matte lipsticks contain more waxes than oils in order to make the lips less shiny--they take moisture from the skin," says celebrity makeup artist Jim Crawford , who works with Halle Berry, Julianne Moore, and Rachel Bilson. "Some waxes are good, but matte lipsticks are made specifically to make your lips look dry. Wearing matte color for too long will cause your lips to pucker-up and dry out."

That's why--in order to create a matte surface--Pat McGrath, global creative design director for P&G Beauty and Fashion Week regular, prefers to work with non-matte lipsticks. "There are ways to make your everyday lipstick look matte," she says. To achieve "rich, velvety color," the makeup maven uses concealer as a base, then continuously applies and tissues-off lipstick until she reaches her desired level of matte.

For a more moisturizing base, you can also try an anti-aging eye and/or lip salve. "To prime the lip and ensure a smooth application, I use Shu Uemura Phyto-Black Lift Anti-Wrinkle Eye & Lip Contour Cream ," says Gina Brooke, Shu Uemura artistic director and makeup artist to Madonna and Naomi Campbell. "It hydrates your lips and also reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles."

Hot Jumpsuit on Gossip Girl

Serena in Episode 11~Thanksgiving Dinner

Hello Dolls. Did anyone catch Gossip Girl last night?

Was Serena wearing that jumpsuit or what? I thought she looked mighty fierce. So fierce, I had to find one similar to it.

Although I did find it, it is soooo out of my price range. But there is nothing wrong with a wishful thought, right?

Enjoy!
